This bothered me in the first chapter, and it's bothering me now. Why was she unable to tell whether the attacker was male or female? Why does the guard questioning her not even ask, when trying to get a description? I had actually wondered in the first chapter if Maira was something other than human, since that was all she noticed about the two people when she came in. When did she first realize the professor was male?
